Chrysler Successes in Consumer Reports and Vehicle Sales

Chrysler Group is the top domestic brand in both Consumer Reports rankings and vehicle sales improvement percentage. How did it rise to the top from a precarious position? Mostly due to a focus on quality.
How did the Chrysler Group go from a recipient of government support to a top-ranked domestic brand in Consumer Reports ratings in less than three years? Head of quality Doug Betts had a lot to do with it. Asserting in 2008 that "Everybody in the company has an effect on customer satisfaction and dissatisfaction and somebody needs to oversee that plan," Betts followed through on that sentiment and involved all members of his team in plans to improve satisfaction levels by increasing quality.
Those efforts paid off in a major way in the most recent Consumer Reports vehicle reliability study. Jeep moved up seven notches from its previous ranking to become the most reliable domestic brand, while Chrysler and Dodge moved up 12 and three positions respectively, with Chrysler's success due in large part to the highly ranked Chrysler 200. This success is in part a result of Doug Betts' persistent focus on quality data from multiple sources, including Enprecis Continuous Quality Insight (CQI).
In a sense, Chrysler took a big gamble in the 2011 model year, launching 16 new or refreshed vehicles, including the Chrysler 200 & 300 as well as the Dodge Grand Caravan. It seems to have paid off for the company, in large part due to a laser-like focus on quality throughout the new product design and development lifecycle.
Enprecis is pleased to be providing the data that supports Chrysler's quality decisions going forward, all in support of creating excellent vehicles that awe customers.
